It is a dark and rainy day in Pittsburgh, but we are not letting that get us down.  Daddy is here, and we are all set up in our temporary home away from home.  We couldn't get a room at the Ronald McDonald house yet, but we are staying at Family House, which is a similar idea.  This is a beautiful place, set up like a hotel with common kitchen and living room area.  We have a suite, so Bella has a place to take a nap without us disturbing her.  We have already met a couple from Seattle waiting for a double lung transplant for the husband, and a man from Minneapolis whose wife is in the hospital getting treatment for liver cancer.  They are not at Children's, obviously, but there are a TON of other UPMC hospitals here in Pittsburgh, and each one seems to be the best in the world at one thing or another.  The couple from Seattle has been here for 12 weeks waiting for the lungs!
It looks like we are going to stay pretty close to home today, as Daddy didn't bring a rain coat, and it is really nasty outside.  It is supposed to be beautiful weather for the next few days, so we will catch up on sleep today, then explore the city a bit more tomorrow.  We are staying in what is apparently the "hippest" part of Pittsburgh, and had a great pizza for dinner last night.  I guess there is a lot of (window) shopping and walking right around here, so it should be a good distraction while we wait for the hepatocytes.

  1. Hi Court, As you have probably heard we have had a lot of rain here. Your middle daughter and I decided to use our umbrellas and go on a rain walk. After coming across (and going through) a lot of huge puddles, Lily commented that we were probably having a "flo" (flood). She didn't seem at all worried was just stating a Lily fact! On our way home from school Miss Addie stated "This is the most water we have ever had in our swamp". Your girls do keep me smiling :)Bella keeps us all smiling with her beautiful pictures. Please give her a huge {{{{{HUG}}}}} from me. Have a great time exploring "hip" Pittsburgh with your hubby! Lotsa <3 , Reney
